Ultramar companies delivered boxes of food to families in Antofagasta

The initiative is led by the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC) and the Ministry of Social Development, and it reached over 100 families in northern Chile. The food boxes were designed to provide each family with sufficient food and basic necessities for 15 days.

28 volunteers from the Ultramar companies Puerto Angamos, Sitrans, Ultraport and Ultramar Agencies, met to deliver over 100 boxes of food to families in the vulnerable sectors of Antofagasta. This initiative forms part of the “Siempre por Chile- Cajas de Alimentos” (Committed to Chile – Food Boxes) campaign that aims to help Chilean households affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The volunteers formed a solidarity crusade, as participants from various companies not only delivered boxes of food, but also provided care and hope by forming a bond with the community and with neighbors who are experiencing difficulties as a result of the pandemic.

The initiative was controlled by the SimpliRoute application. It assigned food boxes to families and gave the volunteers the respective addresses and routes. The campaign complied with strict safety and hygiene protocols, and was fully coordinated by the Chilean uniformed police.

The food boxes are designed to provide a family of four people with sufficient food for 15 days. It contains 19 items of non-perishable food, such as flour, oil, noodles, rice, legumes and preserves.

This campaign is led by the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC) and the Ministry of Social Development. Several companies in Chile supported the campaign by providing financial resources, logistics and volunteers, to benefit over 130,000 vulnerable families throughout Chile.
